Leave the A507 and head into Arlesey. On entering the village take the first left into House Lane and at the end of House Lane bear left into High Street. The footpath leads off from the right hand side of High Street, between houses, just before the mini roundabout at the junction with Lynton Avenue.
Unrestricted roadside parking available.
FCC services to Arlesey or Stagecoach bus from Hitchin or Arlesey station to nearby bus stops.
No amenities but a short walk to shops. There is also a decent fish and chip shop in nearby Stotfold -
Charles Fish and Chips, 9 Regent Street, Stotfold. Comes highly recommended - mention Trainspots and get a Free can of drink with every meal over £2.50!
Line runs straight for a fair distance in each direction, virtually north/south. Shots of trains on the fast available both north and south/am and pm but northbound slow line shots are best am and southbound slow line shots are best pm.
The new foot bridge has high sided barriers along the steps prohibiting a shot from them. You could stand on the hand rails to see over but this would be hazardous. Both sets of steps face north so there is a limited potential for a southbound shot but OLE masts are very prominent in the frame from the steps.
From the base of the steps similar shots to the original foot crossing ones can be had. But the use of steps would be essential to get over the current fence which is around 6 foot high.
At the time of visiting the over bridge section was open, but there are mounting points in place suggesting a cage could be fitted over the top in the future.
