Road directions
From the east, take the A6187 as far as Hope Village, then turn right into a minor road towards Edale. After about 4 miles, there is a car park on the right. Immediately after the car park, turn right into a minor road, and the station approach road is on the left, just before the railway bridge. From the Manchester area, use the A57 via Glossop to Ladybower Reservoir, then the A6013 to Bamford. Shortly after passing Bamford station, turn right onto the A6187 then as above. From the west, access is from Chapel En Le Frith, then via a series of minor roads, some steep and winding, and it is best to use an Ordnance Survey map to assist navigation.
Parking
There is now a car park extension to the south of the tracks at Edale station. This car park seems to be free on weekdays (although £4 to parish council funds at weekends) and is located directly opposite Edale signal box.
Public transport
By rail to the station by local services from Manchester Piccadilly or Sheffield.
Amenities
There is a small cafe on the station approach road. There are public toilets in the other car park, just across the road from the station.
Photographic notes
From the westbound platform, the sun is best placed for eastbound trains until early afternoon. Shading by trees affects photos of westbound trains from this platform. From the eastbound platform, photos have the sun behind the train at most times, except on summer evenings, and a brightish, but cloudy day is generally preferable.
