Road directions
From the M5, junction 12: Heading south bound - At the top of the exit ramp go left Heading north bound - turn right at the roundabout at the top of the off ramp and over the M5 and over the next roundabout (top of the southbound off ramp). Turn left into 'Mount Lane' signpost 'Haresfield' and 'Beacon Inn'. Follow this road until you come to a 'T' junction. Take the right turning here. Follow this road until it goes over the railway and then turn immediately right into 'The Terrace', the school should be on your left. Follow the road to the end.
Parking
There is limited parking next to the crossing or in the pub car park. Be careful when parking next to the fence alongside the track as Railtrack need access to a gate here.
Public transport
From Gloucester mainline station, walk across the road to the bus station and catch the Village link buss service to Haresfield (usually the Berkeley service).
Amenities
There are no shops in the area. The nearest amenities or accommodation could be found at Stonehouse, Hardwicke or Quedgeley.
Accommodation
The Beacon Hotel is right next to the crossing. Alternatively, if you head past Haresfield (instead if turning right) follow the road to it's end at the junction with the main Gloucester to Stroud road, Turn right and the 4 mile house pub is on the right.
Better from mid morning onwards due to sunlight. The best view is from the opposite side of the tracks from the pub. Long views southbound and shorter views northbound. For video purposes you can get some high speed footage here as the HSTs, Voyagers and Adelantes do about 100mph past here.
