From the A27, leave at the junction for the B2149 to Havant. Follow the B2149 north until you cross the railway line - you will reach a roundabout, turn right. Follow this road along and turn right after the new housing esate into New Lane, which becomes Fairfield Road at the crossing.
You can park off the side of the road on either side of the crossing. Alternatively when comming up the B2149 follow the signs to the station and park in the carpark (drive right to the end). You can exit the car park - on foot - through the 'level crossing' gates of the Hayling Island line which is next to the level crossing/footbridge.
Havant Station is served by regular services to/from Waterloo, Victoria, Brighton, Chichester, Portsmouth, Eastleigh, Southampton, Basingstoke etc.
Stagecoach run regular buses to/from Havant Bus Station and the surrounding area. From the bus station follow the signs to the railway station (about 2 minutes).
From the station turn right and walk down the car park, exiting it at the far end through the 'level crossing' gates of the closed Hayling Island line, which is next to the level crossing/footbridge.
The town centre is located next to the station, this and the 'Meridian Shopping Centre' provide all the usual shops and eateries.
There are various Hotels and Bed and Breakfasts in the Havant area.
The line here is east-west with trains from the Portsmouth Direct coming off a sharp curve from the North. Light is therefore good all day, but watch the shadows from the nearby trees and buildings. You will need a fairly wide angle lens. The shot to the East is fairly unobscured, but the shot of trains coming from the west is fairly cluttered with the station, signal box and the mast for the crossing's CCTV cameras.
As this is a 'traditional' Southern open sided footbridge, with staggered steps on each side you can get various shots from the bridge as well as the level crossing itself.
