Road directions
Travelling from the North on the A12, take the Ingatestone slip road and turn Left onto B1002 Roman Road. Take second Right onto The Leas, and continue to the end onto Heybridge Road. The location is reached by a footpath between two houses, a short distance down Heybridge Road on the left.
Parking
Parking is available on Heybridge Road, but take care not to cause an obstruction. There is also a car park at Ingatestone station, as well as a small car park in the village centre. The public footpath actually starts in Heybridge Road, although it is not clear on the map - it is signposted from the roadside though.
Public transport
Regular train services between Liverpool Street and Braintree serve Ingatestone Station, which is around a 15-20 minute walk away. Trains run hourly during the day, although more stop during peak times. Most bus services in the area are provided under contract to Essex County Council.
Amenities
There are no amenities in the immediate area. Ingatestone High street is around a mile and a quarter away to the North East, has a number of shops, including a very nice chippy, a just as nice bakery, as well as a newsagent / convenience store. There is also a small council car park in the centre of town, and public toilets.
As of June 2013 this crossing has been closed, until further notice. The line here runs roughly North East-South West, so the light is best for trains heading towards London. The loop sees occasional use, which will prevent access for photting, however I have never had trouble there - most trains seem to be held at Shenfield instead. There is some road noise which may affect video, but nothing too intrusive.
