East Boldon is a small town to the West of Sunderland. There is no path next to the road, just a grass verge but there are a couple of benches as the area is popular with bird watchers.
From the A1(M)
At the Washington Service Area join the A194(M) (Stay in the right hand lane) and follow the signs to the Tyne Tunnel. At the Testos roundabout take the second exit, singed for Sunderland North, on to the A184.
