Location notes
Temple Mills is located in East London near Leyton. It is about a 5 minute ride from Stratford to Leyton on the Central Line.
This location will be radically different now from the information here, dated 2004.
Eurostar now has a depot here which is due to become fully operational before November 2007. So the layout and the type of traffic you would expect to see here will be different.
An update is being chased up.
Railway type and traffic
At Temple Mills you can expect to see: DB Schenker Class 08s, 60s, 66s, and some other locos visiting Temple Mills for work. There is also freight that runs to Temple Mills, that usually being a Departmental working, usually run by a class 37.
There are two parts to Temple Mills Yard:
The DB Schenker Loco Yard,
The Stored Loco Yard.
There was a The GBRf Stabling point, but this has now been removed and all GBRf infrastructure workings originate from
Whitemore Yard

Road directions
Coming from the East (via M11):
Leave the M11 link road at Green Man roundabout, Leytonstone. From here, follow the road straight towards the high road. Carry on going straight, over the central line at Leytonstone station, under the Barking-Gospel Oak line. Carry on straight via the one-way systems etc until you see a car dealership on the right hand side. From here, go across the lights, turn left towards the Asda car park and you're opposite Temple Mills South yard. Turn right at the mini-roundabout and follow the round alongside what was Temple Mills yard until you see the depot on your left. Go past here and there are some lay-by's on the right hand side of the road.
This road can be a bit of a racetrack so beware when getting out of the car!

Parking
Parking is not great around the Temple Mills area, there is a small lay-by by the bridge where you cross over and can see all the locos, but you do not want to leave your car there for too long.
Public transport
To get too Temple Mills by Public Transport you must first go to Stratford Station and change onto the Central Line. Take the Central Line up to Leyton and cross over the bridge until you reach a shopping complex and you can see an Asda. Photographic notes
There is a low bridge which is very good as you can get some good shots of the stored locos and you can also get good shots of the EWS Locos parked up. The only noise is the road nearby and maybe some of the locos firing up.
If you continue over the bridge and down the stairs and follow the footpath and you can get more shots from there.
