New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
Situated on the main line from South Wales to England, just to the East of the Severn Tunnel.
Railway type and traffic
Passenger traffic is handled by HSTs, classes 143, 150 & 158, 180 and, at the weekend, Voyagers.
Freight is mostly DB Schenker class 66 on coal, engineers and a steel trains. Freightliner send a Monday to Friday Freightliner through in the morning. Also, 60s on petroleum trains to West Wales.
Environment
An isolated station out in the country. One of the track maintenance companies has a compound on the North side and there are some lock-up garages as well. Generally a few enthusiasts around.
Road directions
From the M5, Junction 17:
Head West down the hill through Easter Compton and eventually turn right at a Y junction for Pilning. After passing under the railway, keep to the left and in to the station car park.

Parking
You can park the car right up by the station entrance and keep it in view at all times.
Public transport
One of the least used stations in the country! Only two trains per week. There should be a bus service to Easter Compton.

Amenities
There is a pub, The Plough, within 2mins walking distance - serves food as well as Wadworths beers.

Very good views to both the East and West. Either from the platforms or the footbridge. The location can get very busy with enthusiasts if a special is due through.
