Road directions
From the M5, Junction 17: Take the B4055 north towards Pilning. In the village itself, when the B4055 turns right, continue ahead on the B4064, across the A403 and head for Severn Beach. The location is about half-a-mile beyond the A403 crossroads.
From the M48 Junction 1: Head south on the A403 towards Avonmouth and after about 2 miles, turn right at the crossroads onto the B4064 towrds Severn Beach, and then follow directinos as above.
Parking
Best to leave the car a few hundred yards away in Severn Beach. There is plenty of roadside car parking.
Public transport
About 1/2 mile walk from Severn Beach station, or Wessex Connect 625 bus (2-hourly) from Bristol and Severn Beach.
Amenities
None at the location. However, there are some facilities in Severn Beach and Pilning villages.
As the location is above the Severn Tunnel, you can only photograph trains looking east. The line runs North West - South East, so it is best from about mid-day onwards. The line is in a deep cutting and you are high above it, so some dramatic shots can be had but shadows may be a problem in winter. You are also above the M49 motorway so it is very noisy, so no-go for video.
