From Guildford take the A25/A246 towards Leatherhead, turn right at Clandon and continue along the A25 towards Shere, over the top of the North Downs and down the other side. At the base of the Downs turn right onto the A248. Where the road bears right, turn left on to New Road and climb the hill. About 200 yards from where the road levels out behind some trees, you will see Albury Cricket ground. Park there and on foot walk along the foot path towards the Cricket Pavilion. Behind the Pavilion you will see a path that disappears into heathland follow that path until you come to a barbed wire fence that separates the heathland from a field. This field offers several views of the Guildford to Dorking Line.
Parking is available at Albury Cricket Ground. It is a public car park in a rural area.
Not really possible to this location.
No amenities - in the countryside.
The location is on the northern side of the line so you are shooting towards the sun all year but reasonable shots can be taken.
It is a good spot for Steam locomotives as after a standing start from the water stop at Shalford it is uphill all the way to Dorking so the locomotive is working hard, especially with 11 Pullman coaches on, they have been known to slip at this location.
