Road directions
When travelling on the A37 either from Dorchester or Yeovil, turn off onto Stockbridge Road. Travel along this road for around a mile and you will come across the small station of Chetnole.
Parking
On the A37 side of the railway, around 200 yards from the station is space to leave your car, but make sure you park as far into the hedge as possible so large vehicles can pass.
Public transport
Trains stop at Chetnole on request, so indicate to the driver that you wish to stop the train as it approaches the station, and a bus service operates through the village of Chetnole.
Amenities
The nearby Chetnole Inn is situated in the village. There is no village shop, but in the nearby village of Yetminster is a village shop.
Accommodation
The Chetnole Inn has accommodation which is located in the village.
Lighting is pretty good throughout the day, you may have shawdows on the front of the trains in the evening if photographing southwards. You have plenty of warning of trains approaching, the northern side of the bridge is on a straight so you can see trains approaching from a considerable distance, and on the southern side of the bridge is a number of foot crossings that trains will whistle at, which can be heard from the station.
