Road directions
From the M1, Junction 24a:
Head west along the A50 for about a mile until the next junction and then follow the B6540 - Tamworth Road, signposted Long Eaton, untill you reach the Bell public house.

From Long Eaton Railway station:
Turn right under the railway bridge onto Tamworth Road (B6540), until you reach the Bell public house.

Then:
From the Bell public house turn immediately left onto Netherfield Road and follow it to the end. At the end of Netherfield Road you will see Lock Lane Signal Box on your left.
Parking
You can park on the road on either side of the crossing, large pull-in on left if you go over the crossing.
Public transport
The Bus Routes are now Indigo and my15. Get off the Indigo or the my 15 at 'The Bell' stop. Alternatively continue on the Indigo (Loughborough) to Draycott Road stop. This is just past Lock Lane so as you get off the bus turn in the direction the bus has come from and a short distance later turn right into Lock Lane and continue straight along the road to the level crossing.
Alternitavely you can stay on the my15, or if you are on the Indigo (Old Sawley) stay on the bus at the Bell stop, the bus then carries on and turns right into Draycott Road. Then alight at the next stop, walk in the direction the bus has come from and take a right turn onto the main Road, cross the road using the bollards and take left turn into Lock lane and carry on as before to the level crossing.
The Star Trak web site features real time bus running information and bus stops in the area.
Amenities
There are various shops about ten minutes walk away including, chip shop, pizza shop, Chinese and curry house. Public houses at Trent Lock also do hot food, and allow the chance for photos of trains passing over the river Trent on the MML.
Photographic notes
Lighting is usually pretty good, but difficult for trains approaching from the West (Stenson Junction) during late afternoon / early evening.
Best shots usually available for trains approaching from the East (Trent Junction).
