From the A1 take the A1114 towards Newcastle. Once over the Redhaugh Bridge you will pass a casino on the left and then come to a crossroad. Turn right onto Westgate road, continue down the road keeping to the right (it's all one way) and turn onto Neville Street. The station is immediately on the left after turning onto Neville Street. Go past where the taxis are parked, the long stay car park is on the left (if the shutter is down then it's full) and the short stay car park is straight ahead past the station entrance.
The station has a car park, however this is quite expensive and busy. It may be easier to park somewhere outside of the city centre and get a Metro to the station. If you do this then the East and West end of the city are best avoided, north of the city (Jesmond etc) should be ok.
Further a field, Kingston Park and Callerton Parkway stations both have park and ride facilities and are close to the A1.
Both Metro lines run through Central station and most local bus services run to either Gateshead or Newcastle.
Toilets are located on platforms 3 and 4. There are plenty of shops/food outlets in the station and in the city centre.
There are a number of hotels and Bed and Breakfasts in Newcastle.
All-rooms.comEither end of platforms 3 and 4 (which end depends on the light) are the best positions to photograph from. These are located in the centre of the station and give good views of all the lines.
