Road directions
From Banbury: Take the A423 North towards Southam. As you reach Fenny Compton, you will notice the 'Wharf Inn' on your left. You need to turn left just after this. Follow the road into the village. You will notice the railway crossing the road, and there is a footpath to your right which also leads to the location, but I prefer this alternative: Pass under the lines, and as you reach the houses, turn right into Fieldgate Lane, then left into either 'Berry Meadow' or 'the Raedings'. From here, you can pick up the public footpath which you follow in a north easterly direction. You will eventually reach a railway line which you pass under. This is the line to MOD Kineton, and is not used too frequently. As soon as you pass under the line, you will see the location infront of you.
Parking
I prefer to park in the residential area here.
Amenities
There are a couple of pubs in the village of Fenny Compton itself, the nearest being the Wharf Inn (which you cannot miss, and is highly recommended.) A cup of tea can also be had at the Bygones museum in nearby Claydon.
Currently (2007) the shot is not as good as it once was, mainly due to some of the lineside bushes getting too big. However, it can`t be written off completely, and who knows, maybe those tree cutters will do a days work sometime in the future....?? The best shot here is of northbound workings in the afternoon/evening.
