From the M25, Junction 21a:
Head north up the A405 and at the first roundabout take the first exit along the B4630. There is a petrol station here, the road is to it's left. Follow this road straight along and into St Albans. Just after the first roundabout you will come to you will see St Albans Abbey station on the left. After you pass the station you will see a junction in the road, turn right into Prospect Road and continue to the end. At the end turn right onto CottonMill Lane and follow the road round. Abbots Avenue is the second right.

Park you car, considerately, on the road side.

There are some shops on Abbots Avenue, and the pub opposite the location.

As a tourist centre there will be plenty of places to stay in St Albans.

The bridge is reasonably high over the line which is in a tree lined cutting. Lighting will be fairly ambient.
