Road directions
Once in York city centre it is not practical to drive and the easiest way around is by bus. There are numerous park and rides which go to the station and these are all signposted on the outskirts of York. or you can park in the Railway museum as it is only 2-3 minutes walk from there.
If you really must drive the station is well sign posted from all the major in roads.
Parking
There a a few car parks at York station all perfectly safe to park. They are quite expensive though and I would recommend parking in the railway museum car park.
Public transport
Trains from Scotland, London, Manchester and Middlesbrough stop here. It is fairly easy to get here by train from most places in the country.
Amenities
There are station toilets, a few station cafes, and just a short walk from the station is all the major attractions.
Accommodation
There is a station hotel at York and hundreds of B&Bs in the City.

Photographic notes
Update note: staff are very helpful to photographers so long as you visit the station supervisor's office (to the right of the concourse as you enter the station from the front) and sign the visitors' book and, usually, wear a visitors' badge during your visit. If you do this, don't forget to sign out.

The light can get poor with the sun shining right into the camera if you are photographing Northbound trains in the afternoon. However on a cloudy day the light is fine.
