Come off the A14 at junction 58 and follow the A1156 back towards Ipswich, also signed Trinity Park on the Roundabout exit. Follow the road and you will pass back over the A14. Shortly after this you should reach a car dealership on the right. There is a residential road running parallel to the main road you can either drive down this or turn left just after the
Shepherd and Dog pub you should see a 40mph speed triangle at this turn. The location is then directly in front of you.
There are spaces directly opposite the crossing on both sides. Although, obviously, you will have to drive over the line to reach the other side. The closest spaces are part of retail establishments so it may be necessary to park a few feet further away.
There is a bus stop opposite the location.
First Suffolk service 75 calls here.
The
Shepherd and Dog pub is just across the road which serves carvery food. A mile or so to the west is a Sainsburys superstore and just past that are other food outlets including Burger King and larger chain restaurants.
A very head on shot in either direction with curves in the distance making this location more preferable to telephoto users. The view is open from all four corners of the crossing. There is plenty of notice of approaching trains as, in addition to the red/green light there is a warble siren that sounds a good 60 seconds before the trian arrives.
The line is single track. But there is no places for workings to pass between Derby Road and Felixstowe. So if something has passed Trimley heading for Ipswich nothing will head in the other direction.
Although the Trimley RTT page shows all workings on the branch you can simply list workings in one direction only by looking at:
