Road directions
From the M9 junction 3 (Bo'ness and Linlithgow): Turn left towards Linlithgow (A803) continue on the A803 through Linlithgow and into Linlithgow Bridge, passing through turn left into the B825 (signposted Whitecross) carry on up this road, passing under the viaduct. Park at the gated field entrance (right side of road, just before farm buildings) which is a few hundred metres farther on. Opposite of this parking area is a field access. The location is here.
Parking
The location is on a narrow road with very little if any long term parking . It is possible (short term) to park at a gated field entrance which is on the opposite side of the road from the photo location (only room for one car).
Public transport
Walkable from Linlithgow Bridge. Bus number 24 from Linlithgow cross, stops outside the pub mentioned in the amenities and continues down the road (under the bridge and past the trainspot location) though it is not known if there is a nearer bus stop than the one outside the pub.
Amenities
Sainsbury's and Sommerfield supermarkets are located in Linlithgow Bridge. There is a pub (The Bridge Inn) which caters for bar meals on the corner of the road which goes under the viaduct.
Looking onto the viaduct, trains from the east are coming towards the camera. Given the distance a telphoto lens is the best option for this location. The light is good for most of the day , with sun shining onto the viaduct.
