New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
A field about 5 minutes cycle ride from the station.
Railway type and traffic
Standard MML fare, so 319s, 222s, HSTs.
Some freight which includes 66s and 60s.
Environment
Quite, near a cricket club with open fields around you.
Road directions
From the M1, Junction 7:
Take the M10 south and continue a few miles to the roundabout. Take the third exit onto the A5183 and head south. After 3 or 4 miles you will pass Radlett station. Continue south towards Borehamwood, via Watling Street, until you get to a sign about a rugby club, turn in and park in the car park.
Follow the mud path untill you have to climb over part of the fence which you are alowed to climb over. Then you are there.

There is a car park near. See the road directions.
Public transport
City metro service to Radlett. Or the 655/365/602 to get to the station. Or Thameslink services from Bedford and London.

Amenities
Being a field location there are no direct facilites in the area. Head back to Radlett village for basic shops or into Borehamwood for a bigger range.

Photographic notes
Good sun, for southbound shots, after 2pm. You can get trains in both directions but in from three angles.
Pretty good for videographers.
You can get a nice wide shots with some panning. Cross over shots are common in the peaks as there is always something bound. Can get some 'thrash' as well, if a FCC services has been crossed in front of an HST. Or a FCC has been pushed into the slow in favour of a HST.
There are also various places on the way to the field than can be 'ok' for videos, these are displayed in the video that is shown here.
