New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
Due to the building of a rather large building..This shot is now no longer available.

Situated about 20 miles north of London and just north of Hemel Hempstead on the West Coast Mail Line.
Railway type and traffic
Plenty of Virgin Anglo-Scottish/London - Midlands express passenger services. London Overground runs the slower rural passenger services. There is also a wide mix of freight, working north to places like Manchester and Scotland.

Photographic notes
On the west side of the WCML in the middle of a very long straight section of track. The up and down fast lines are next to the locations with the slow lines being on the opposite side. With the easterly facing view the location is often backlit for southbound trains.
