Just off the A58 Lily Lane, Bamfurlong.
The beginning of the public footpath is well hidden and can easily be missed. If travelling from the A573 / Platt Bridge it is on the left just before the top of the railway bridge, if travelling from Ashton-in-Makerfield it is on the right just over the railway bridge after the first two houses. The small alley leading to this location is next to the small electric sub-station.
Free safe parking can be found opposite the Post Office close to the railway bridge.
Two bus services serve this location:
320 Wigan-St.Helens.
620 Bolton-St.Helens
The bus stop is in-between the railway bridge & canal bridge. In the middle of a field near the small village of Bamfurlong so no toilets. No food outlets either but the Post Office sells crips and sweets.
Unfortunately, when the sun comes out to play this location is only usable up to 11am. The best shot can be had facing North. The South facing shot is not ideal when the sun is out. In the afternoon, if the sun is out, the light is in your face and the tall trees opposite cause shadows.
