New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
On the Midland main line, 35 miles south of Leicester.
Railway type and traffic
There are 4 EMT services an hour though so plenty of opportunities for HST and 'Meridian' shots.. From around 12:00hrs on a good day there can be a procession of north-bound empty freights, mainly aggregate trains, as well as a couple of cement trains. There is little if any south-bound afternoon freight traffic.

A footbridge located down the side of the Weatherbys factory on Sanders Road.
Road directions
Follow the A510 Northen Way from the A509 roundabout on the ring road. At the first roundabout turn left and follow the road round to the Weatherbys factory. The lane is after Weatherbys.

Parking
Park in the roadway just between the Weatherbys site and the storage depot next to it - do not attempt to take a car beyond approximately 50 yards down this road.
Walk down this road past a caravan parked on the road and pick your way carefully through the debris that accompanies the gypsy site. The dogs can bark quite a bit but do not normally bite!
Public transport
The bridge is about a mile and a half from Wellingborough station and as it is near an industrial estate there is little in the way of public transport.

Photographic notes
The southbound shot is best in the morning, the northbound shot from mid afternoon. However the rubbish strewn along the fence from the Council tip does not make the northbound shot a very pleasant picture. If you can frame it so that the north end of Wellingborough new yard is in the shot it is passable.
