Railway type and traffic
During the week an Hourly dmu runs during the daytime. Mostly Class 142 but with occasional 150/156.
Daily return freight service, Immingham - Knowsley & return.

Road directions
From Wigan, take the A571 road heading towards St. Helens. Turn left into Little Lane.

Limited, as the road is fairly busy.
Public transport
By rail to Pemberton station.
Bus services also operate from Wigan, passing both railway stations. Walk along A571 Billinge Road towards Wigan. Turn right into Little Lane until the bridge across the railway. Allow 5-10 minutes walking time.

The line is curving gently in a shallow cutting, with Pemberton station visible in the distance. Sun ok for photos of eastbound trains until late morning, but the line may be shaded in mid-winter. Location should be ok for westbound trains in mid to late afternoon.
