Road directions
From Birchington-on-sea railway station, turn right, and right again so that you are heading in a westerly direction. You should shortly pass under the railway bridge that crosses the road. Keep on this road. You can either:
1. Take a left hand turn by the row of shops into Dane road, and proceed to the end....... You will then need to proceed by foot to the crossings.
2. Continue to the seafront (The Parade) and turn left. Follow this to the end, and you will see a pub 'The Minnis' Turn left just before the pub, and you should find yourself in a large car-park. From here, walk westwards along Wantsum Walk, and turn left down the public footpath when you come to it.
Parking
Either behind the pub, or at the end of Dane Road.
Amenities
Near to this location we have a general shop, and the Beehive Cafe which are located in Minnis road itself. 'The Minnis' serves food and drinks. There are also toilets in the car-park by the pub. There is plenty more on offer in the village centre.
Accommodation
The Kings Head and Sea view Hotel offer accommodation.
Railway Gen Group
South East Gen
Photographic notes
The line runs pretty much east-west, so does not pose too many problems with lighting, and shots can be had at all times of the day. Trains travelling east are best photographed up to about lunchtime, then as the sun moves round, the location becomes better for photographing westbound trains.
This could be ideal for video here, although sometimes Planes going to Manston airport can create some noise!
