St.Nicholas at Wade is between Herne Bay and Birchington. From Birchington, head west on the A28, and from Herne Bay, head west on the A299. As the A299 meets the A28 (or vice-versa depending on direction of travel) You will find yourself at St.Nicholas Roundabout. From here, take a turning down Potten Street road (Just north of the village). Keep following this lane past the houses and farm buildings. Towards the end of this road, it will bear left, and there are farm buildings to your left, a farm house to your right, and a walkway that appears to go straight ahead. This is the point you are looking for! Park on the left just around the corner, next to what appears to be an old loading bay. If you start getting close to the A299, then you have gone too far.
Once you have parked, Take the Wansum walk which will lead you to the railway.
See above details.
Nothing in the immediate area, but there is a good pub in the village.
The line here runs pretty much east-west, so does not pose too many problems with lighting, and shots can be had at all times of the day. Trains travelling east are best photographed up to about lunchtime, then as the sun moves round, the location becomes better for photographing westbound trains.
Due to the quiet nature of the area, it would be ideal for those who wish to take video.
