From the Island capital, Newport, take the A3054 to Ryde. When you get to Ryde, head for the sea-front, and you will not be able to miss the Bus station or the Ryde Esplanade railway station.
You can park in Ryde centre itself, or at Ryde Esplanade. There are also parking spaces on the sea-front road itself.
There are plenty of buses serving Ryde Esplanade from various locations on the island. From the UK mainland, direct links can be made with the Wightlink catamaran, and also the Hovercraft to Ryde Esplanade which can be caught at Portsmouth and Southsea.
There are plenty of cafes, fast-food outlets and restaurants in Ryde itself. There is also a cafe at Ryde Pier Head station.
There are several hotels and Bed and Breakfasts scattered around Ryde.
Photographs can be taken from the station platform, although only one platform is accessible these days. Shots can also be taken of trains during their journey up or down the pier. A wide shot can be taken from the footbridge which can be seen from the station itself.
Please note that the footbridge can often be busy.
