| Isle of Wight, Brading Station Written by Kevin Lee - 12 Dec 2007 |
A new mobile site has been ceated. Whilst this page will remain you may find
Trainspots mobile better suited to a smart phone.
Brading is on the A3055 between Ryde and Sandown, the road to the station turns off the 'A' Road in the middle of Brading.
You can park in the station car park.
Island Line servicesSouthern Vectis run buses to Shanklin from the surrounding area but they are overpriced and unreliable!
The station is unstaffed but there are snacks and coffes now available at the station, otherwise the shops in are Brading just a short walk away.
There are Bed and Breakfasts and Hotels in the vicinity.
The location is accessible from the south end of the station platform.
Please keep behind the fences at the foot crossing. The line here is aligned north - south so you can shoot trains until the sun crosses the line in the afternoon. If you follow the footpath along the line you can get some shots of trains over the fence, if your less than 6 foot you will need a step ladder, and mind the barbed wire!
You can use a zoom or wide angle lens in either direction, depending what sort of shot you want. A video would be good here.
