From Ryde, head south on the A3055 As you leave the town, you will see a garden centre to your right, and a large superstore on the left. Keep going on the A3055, and you will soon reach the woods. You need to take a right down 'Harding Shute' and the location is the bridge that crosses the railway.
Park as much off the road as you can There is a good location to park further down the road on the left hand side, just past the farm buildings which are on the right.
Nothing at the location, but the previously mentioned garden centre could be useful. Wootton Bridge also has a good pub, the Sloop Inn. There is also a nearby superstore. Ryde town centre itself should cater for most needs!
There is a public footpath behind the farm buildings which takes you into the field which runs alongside the line, but no shots are obtainable here.
Shots can be had in both directions, but the shot of choice is a telephoto shot of southbound workings in the afternoon, preferably in the summer when the shadows are not long.
