From Ryde, head south on the A3055, taking a right hand turn into Great Preston Road as you leave the town. Keep keep right at the next fork in the road and continue down Smallbrook lane. You will pass over the railway, and will then reach a mini roundabout half-way up the hill. Turn left here, and you should notice the speedway stadium on your left.
Further along this road just past some farm buildings (and the public footpath sign) you will notice a lay-by, which is an ideal place to park your vehicle! Take the public footpath which leads to the crossing.
Park in the small lay-by.
This location is good for photographing trains to Smallbrook in the mornings, but is best for trains in the other direction from late morning through to the afternoon.
This location could be good for video, but you may get the odd bleeting sheep, or passing motorist on the nearby road.
