From 'Lake' head north towards Sandown on the A3055. Not long after the road bears to the right, you will notice the line crossing the road ahead, and on your left before this is 'The Fairway' which is the road you need to take. After about 200yards, there is a public footpath on the right hand side. Follow this to the foot crossing.
Park your car in the Fairway, but note that parking is not allowed on one side of the road.
Southern Vectis provide a regular bus service between Sandown and Shanklin.
There is are plenty of shops etc in Sandown itself, but nothing at the location. There are also some local shops at Lake.
Photographic notes - Shots can be had in both directions from the steps which lead up to the crossing. Interesting shots can also be had from the recreation ground if you cross the line here, although steps would be useful if taking a shot by the fencing here.
